Half and half hair color, Do you know about the split-dyed hair fad that is sweeping Instagram? This is a half-and-half colouring technique that involves separating the hair in the centre and applying a separate colour to each side.
The origin of the Half and half hair color trend…
The most elegant “villain” in Disney flicks, Cruella de Vil from 101 Dalmatians, is credited for starting this style. In the original 1961 cartoon, this one already had half-white and half-black hair. This colouring, which went so well with the pups, was immortalised in 1996 by the wonderful Glenn Close.
The style is also inspired by Japanese cartoon characters and their whimsical world. Given its photogenic nature, it goes without saying that we see this sort of hairdo more on social media than in real life.
The style is available in a variety of hues, including black and white, natural colours like chestnut and blond, pastel colours, and even vivid electric colours like a rainbow! The turquoise + pink/purple combo seems to be the most popular.
We see half-and-half colouring on long and short hair, as well as on females of various ethnicities.
